For instance, scientists have invented new ways to target cancerous cells through radiation without harming normal cells. This has been helpful for tumors that were once considered untreatable because of their closeness to vital organs. In addition, scientists have also discovered ways to manipulate the immune system and genes to help fight off cancer. These methods are known as immunotherapy and gene therapy.
