March 8, 2010BLADE STAFF DEERFIELD, Mich. - Melvin D. Smotherman, a skilled welder whose craft took him to the Davis-Besse and Fermi nuclear power plants, Toledo's shipyard, and area foundries, died Thursday in his home in Deerfield.
